Part 3 – Assistance and Medical Alert Dogs – Mathéo and Bentley
Mathéo is thirteen years old and has autism and dyspraxia. Bentley, his three-year-old assistance dog, was trained by the Arthanis Foundation to support him in many different ways in his everyday life.
In the video, Mathéo explains how Bentley brings him his things in the morning, helps calm him by nudging him when he’s struggling, and gets him headphones when he needs to rest. With Bentley by his side, Mathéo isn’t afraid to go out now: he can go shopping, for a walk, and take part in life again – all things that used to seem impossible.
His parents explain how his everyday life has changed: trips are possible again, visits to the doctor are relaxed, and therapies are more successful. Mathéo is more relaxed and active, and has even lost his excess weight from the regular walks.
