Assistance dogs support people with medical issues, such as epilepsy, diabetes and autism, in their everyday life. The Arthanis Foundation trains dogs to help with each caregiver’s individual needs.
In the video, Alexandra Herbez, founder of the Arthanis Foundation, explains what these dogs can do: thanks to their their sense of smell, they know in advance when a medical emergency is imminent. They retrieve medication, open doors and support people with reduced mobility. At the same time, they learn to behave perfectly in any situation, whether they’re at the cinema, at the airport, or using public transport.
The training combines medical warning skills with social competence to make the dog into a reliable partner who not only performs tasks, but also ensures their caregiver enjoys real quality of life and safety.
