Part 3 – Dog-Owner Codex – Ignoring Advice

There are huge amounts of well-meaning advice on dog training out there. But it’s not all helpful – some of it might even damage the relationship between you and your dog.
In the video, Cyrill from Charly’s Dog Training sheds light on three common myths: pinning your dog down does nothing in terms of training and may even harm your bond. The idea that a dog should always be walking behind you is nonsense. What matters more is being good on a short lead when it’s needed. And the alpha theory? It was refuted ages ago. Whether you let your dog up on the bed is a matter of clear rules and has nothing to do with rank.
The real problem is that off-the-shelf tips rarely work on all dogs. Every dog is an individual, and modern dog training relies on attachment, routines, structures, and clear communication. Not on an outdated show of dominance.
Critically assess any advice you get and be sure to get advice from a qualified dog trainer.
